Née à Montreux en 1955, Christine Sefolosha passe son enfance à la Tour-de-Peilz, avant de poursuivre ses études à Neuchâtel. Suivront ensuite dix années intenses en Afrique du Sud, au cours desquelles ses acquisitions culturelles marqueront son parcours pictural de manière indélébile.

Au fil des ans l’artiste travaille l’huile, l’aquarelle et surtout les encres. Ses thématiques, souvent oniriques, passent du monde animal et végétal au thème central de notre exposition: les bateaux- monde, vaisseaux habités de cités fantasmagoriques d’où s’échappent parfois licornes et enfances étonnées.

Lauréate de la Fondation Leenaards en 1998, Sefolosha atteint sa maturité artistique avec la parution d’une importante monographie, aux Éditions Till Schaap, coïncidant avec notre vernissage.

Défendue désormais par ses trois galeries, à Paris, New-York et Lausanne, Christine Sefolosha, voyageuse exploratrice, se fait rare, ce qui rend son “apparition” d’autant plus précieuse.
